Wasp Management.

Being a humming bird fanatic, there is always a lot of sugar water around the house. This has a magnetic attraction for wasps (or yellow-jackets or, curiosly, "bees" according to some of our American friends). If these become a real problem the most effective solution is the Shop-Vac. With a long hose and the crevice tool attached, this can whisk away hundreds of wasps at a stroke. One needs to bear in mind that the Shop-Vac has no valve to prevent the wasps working their way back out via the hose unless this is closed in some way. Once one has done a raid on the feeders, the crevice tool is removed and replaced with the larger part of a 35mm film cassette holder (which just happens to fit ideally).
